Turkey’s Turquoise Coast - The best of the mediterranean sun ensures the turquoise waters remain warm and inviting throughout the year.

The coast stretches from Marmaris to Patara and comprises some magnificent scenery and great examples of Turkey’s rich legacy of ruins and historical sites. Sometimes described as the ‘riviera of antiquity’, this is the region in which Mark Anthony was said to have courted Cleopatra.

The gorgeous coastline contains a series of tiny bays, many concealing ruins. Hisaronu is also an ideal place in which to explore some of Turkey’s often turbulent history. If you want to escape the crowds, we would recommend either taking a dolmus or hiring a car, allowing you to take in more of this beautiful area.

Visit Olu Deniz, one of the finest beaches in the world, where the longest arc of white sand forms a calm turquoise lagoon. Touring the Dalyan river by boat you can cruise over to the amazing rock tombs carved into the cliff above the ancient city of Caunos, visit famous mud baths, and as the river meets the sea, stretch out on Iztuzu, a stunning 6km stretch of beach, with excellent swimming and a protected loggerhead turtle population. For rejuvenating the body and mind, the thermal spring waters at Pamukkale have created natural baths in scenic surroundings, or spend a day in a Turkish bath (hammam).

Ephesus is one of the best preserved classical cities in the Mediterranean. Here, visit the temple of Artemis, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, and the shrine at the Virgin Mary’s house. In Marmaris you can haggle for clothing, carpets and jewellery or take one of the many yachts for a tour of the beautiful natural harbour and its beaches. With its breathtaking natural beauty it is easy to see why the Turquoise Coast is such a favourite holiday destination
