Cheap Holidays KOS
An inviting island of green pastures and sandy beaches in the warm south-eastern Mediterranean, friendly Kos, like its neighbour Rhodes, has Crusader castles, minarets, palm trees, lively night life and several attractive beach resorts.
Hire a jeep and explore the beautiful beaches hidden away in the south of the island or the mountainous villages of the centre. From the impressive harbour at Kos Town, guarded by the Crusader Castle, boats leave for the island of Kalymnos and Rhodes and to the Turkish coastal town of Bodrum.
Take a leisurely walk around the harbour, stopping at one of the waterfront cafés for a cooling drink, and browse around the narrow lanes behind the harbour crammed full with souvenir and jewellery shops. Take the local bus to Mastihari, Kardamena or Kefalos, or a bus trip to visit the Asklepion founded by Hippocrates - father of modern medicine and see the Plane tree in Platanos Square, under which he is said to have taught.
